Born in 1976, Mario Schambon was 4 years old when he and his family emigrated to Florida, escaping the rising violence in Colombia. Growing up in the southern US the food, traditions and music of the immigrant communities where he lived, instilled in him the importance of collaboration and vigilance. He attended the  Atlanta College of Art and has travelled extensively as an exhibition specialist.
His sculptural works have highlighted the injustice of slavery at the Wanderer Memorial on Jekyll Island, Georgia, illuminated and activated architectural spaces for Nuit Blanche in Atlanta,  and  twice for the DesCours exhibitions hosted by the American institute of Architects New Orleans, He was invited to create site specific installations at The Doris McCarthy Gallery Toronto and was a guest artist and performer at Middlebury College.

Under the name Campos de Luz (fields of light), Mario Schambon sonically explores dualities and dissonance in language and social customs through the exploration of familial histories, sound art, improvisation, performance and objects.
Musically, Mario Schambon has collaborated with notable artists such as Damo Suzuki, Maria Chavez, Juliana Barwick, Roberto C. Lange (Helado Negro), Mia Doi Todd, and Ani Cordero, among others.
